Special Tour tickets include Cathedral entry on the day of your tour. These tours are very popular so are subject to availability.

Stonemasonry Works Yard Tour

Our expert guides will show you around our Stonemasonry Works Yard, one of only ten cathedral yards in the country. Learn how 150 million-year-old blocks of Jurassic limestone weighing up to 5 tons are transformed to restore parts of the Cathedral. You’ll visit the Drawing Office where the conservators and stone specialists carry out conservation planning, and you’ll witness astounding hand-carving skills that have been practiced here since the 13th century.

Ticket includes admission in to the Cathedral and Chapter House with Magna Carta on the day of your tour. This tour may not be suitable for anyone under 10 years of age. The tour is partly outside so please ensure you wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Tower Tour

Before booking a Tower Tour, please read the following statements:

• The tour is expected to take 90 – 105 minutes.
• Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour time; an essential health and safety talk takes place prior to the start of the tour. If you arrive late you will not be permitted to attend the tour.
• The tour is not suitable for pregnant people, anyone with veritgo, claustrophobia, or cardivascular issues.
• Children under the age of 7 are not permitted on the tour. Participants must be at least 4ft (120cm) tall.
• Tours may be cancelled due to safeguarding or safety concerns, inclement weather, if you are the sole person booked on the tour, or the adult to child ratio is incorrect.

Library Tour

A winding stone staircase above the Cloisters leads to our library, which was built in 1445. It contains over 10,000 books, with some that are over 1000 years old. An expert will show you a range of books specially selected to demonstrate the importance and variety of the collection. A fascinating glimpse into the Cathedral and the past.

Tour last approximately one hour.
